What this expert provides
The Wind Turbine Loads expert gives the loads a wind turbine puts on its support structure, mooring and stability: the thrust and power curves, the operating, extreme and parked rotor forces, the tower drag, and the tower base shear and moment with P-delta and pitch inertia.
Expert Profile
Works from reference turbines (NREL 5 MW, DTU 10 MW, IEA 15 MW) or your own rotor data, with IEC 61400-1 and 61400-3 wind conditions. Gives the thrust and heeling moment to the mooring and stability experts, the tower base loads to the structures expert, and the mean pitch of a floating unit. Coupled aero-hydro-servo-elastic simulation (OpenFAST, Bladed) remains the design basis.
Key Capabilities
- Thrust and power curves from reference or stated turbines
- Operating, extreme and parked rotor loads (IEC 61400-1 / -3)
- Tower base shear and moment with P-delta and inertia
- Heeling moment and mean pitch for floating units
- Hand-off of loads to mooring, stability and structures
