ai-pna_wave Specialist
The AI-PNA wave and hydrodynamics expert: brings RAOs from any diffraction program into OrcaFlex, checks them, sets up OrcaWave models and computes RAOs in-house.
What this expert provides
The ai-pna_wave expert (AI-PNA's own; not Orcina's OrcaWave program, which it can prepare models for) works like a principal hydrodynamicist with long experience of panel-method diffraction analysis (OrcaWave, WAMIT, AQWA, HydroD/Wadam, MOSES, NEMOH, Capytaine) and of feeding the results into OrcaFlex. It imports RAOs and hydrodynamic data produced by other software, makes every convention explicit, converts and checks them, writes OrcaFlex vessel types, and specifies OrcaWave models so you can develop the RAOs yourself.
Expert Profile
A deterministic engine reads WAMIT numeric files, RAO tables from any program, OrcaFlex vessel types and .gdf meshes in full; converts phase convention (lead or lag), rotation units, amplitude or height basis, heading convention, RAO origin and phase origin; completes headings by symmetry; checks the long-wave limits, which catch a wrong convention; and writes OrcaFlex vessel types, RAO tables and panel meshes, including ship hull meshes built from an offsets table. OrcaWave is licensed software and never runs inside AI-PNA: RAOs exist only when you supply them.
Key Capabilities
- RAO import from WAMIT, AQWA, Wadam, MOSES, NEMOH, Capytaine and model tests
- Conventions made explicit and checked against the long-wave limits
- OrcaFlex vessel types and RAO tables written exactly
- Panel meshes for barges, cylinders and ship hulls (from your offsets, or from L, B, T and form coefficients), with moonpools
- Semisubmersible and floating wind meshes from columns, pontoons and heave plates
- Moonpool piston and sloshing periods, and the damping-lid mesh for OrcaWave
- OrcaWave model set-up: hydrostatics, natural periods, period and heading grids, convergence study
- Comparison of two RAO sets and interpretation of your OrcaWave results
